AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL AMERICAN INDIAN MOVEMENT(AIM) COORDINATORS
FROM: Dineh of Big Mountain/Hopi Partitioned Lands

We, the Dineh, who are resisting peacefully and spiritually against Public Law 93-531, are requesting of the AIM Coordinators that before they come to Big Mountain for support activities or spiritual ceremonies: LE., International Indian Treaty Council Conference, or the Purification and Sundance in July, that they resolve their conflicts or disagreements concerning their internal affairs.

We do not want feelings of disunity and negativism toward one another brought to the Land of the Dineh who have been involved in a non-violent resistance for twelve years!

Our gatherings, beginning with the Spring Survival Gathering (Elder/Youth Conference) April 24-27, will be one of unity and spirituality, We will be conducting ceremonies and teaching our young their responsibilities to the traditional ways. We must consider that the young need our guidance and when they inherit what we are struggling to protect, there will be unity. We must remember the land is sacred and will always be there for all of us,

We Dineh speak for ourselves and ask each of you to please refrain from speaking on our behalf without consulting us.

Conflicts should be resolved among the AIM leadership before any of you come to the Land of the Dineh. We have depended on you for many things in the past. The American Indian Movement has been a "voice" which has given us pride and a chance to speak out. You are a part of who we are and we pray for all of you.

We, the Dineh of Big Mountain/HPL, are in support of neither the "New AIM" nor the "Old AIM". We are just grassroots traditional people who are in support of the struggle of traditional people to remain on our land and to continue our traditional way of life.

We thank you for being there and to be able to call upon you when we need you!
